Severson was born in Minnesota and was the youngest of four children. His father served in WWII and his mother, Elenor, was a welder on ships in Washington D.C. during the war.
Dan holds a bachelors degree in physics from St. Cloud State University, MN. During his Naval service, he logged over 3200 flight hours and over 320 carrier landings while piloting war planes such as the T2 Buckeye, A4 Skyhawk, A7 Corsair, FA18 Hornet and SA227 Metro. In 2002, Dan won election to the Minnesota House Of Representatives. During his eight years of service, Dan held executive leadership roles and was selected to serve as Minority Whip. Dan served the people of Minnesota by upholding and fighting for strong family values, lower taxes, smaller government, pro-life issues, veteran benefits and judicial accountability.
In 2008, Dan led an investigation into election fraud allegations and found Minnesota’s election system was corrupt all the way up to the Minnesota Supreme Court with lack of accountability at every level. In 2010, to continue the battle for election reform, Dan gave up his safe House seat and ran for Minnesota Secretary of State. After months of traveling the state, Dan came within 3% of defeating a George Soros backed incumbent.
Shortly after the race, Dan and his wife led the Minority Liberty Alliance, a grassroots organization that spread the Republican message of conservative values and grassroots activism. He encouraged minority community leaders to engage in government by mentoring these leaders to run for public office and share their passion for strong conservative values.
In 2014, Dan sought and received the Republican endorsement for Minnesota Secretary of State, coming within 1% of victory and, out-performing the Republican Gubernatorial candidate by 4% points and all other statewide races by over 10 points.
In 2015, Dan and his wife permanently relocated to Southwest Florida and fell in love with it’s natural beauty. They attend Life church in Cape Coral and are very active in their church community. Dan also enjoys using his sail boat with the Cape Coral Sail & Power Squadron. Since moving home to Cape Coral, Dan has immersed himself in Southwest Florida politics. He regularly attends the Ft. Myers Trump Club and several other Republican club meetings across the region. Starting in the 2016 cycle, Dan and his wife have been holding weekly prayer meetings in their home to support President Trump.
Dan is passionate about accountability in government, upholding the Constitution, and protecting individual liberties. He also understands Southwest Florida’s waterways are a precious treasure and lifeblood of our economy. Protecting this treasure from big money interests is a top priority.
America is at a crossroads. Fake news and the far left continue to harass our President with unending and baseless charges hampering his ability to enact essential reforms. Dan promises to continue supporting President Trump and his policies while aggressively pushing back against fake news, the “never Trumpers”, and the far left.
Dan’s commitment to you, once elected, is to join the House Freedom Caucus, collaborate as a strong voice in defense of our President, uphold our Constitution and support our troops, police and first responders as they defend these United States. He will be a tireless voice for ending abortion, protecting the 2nd amendment, building the wall to secure our border, advocating for smaller government and protecting our waters.
CD-19 deserves a bold and articulate Representative. One who cannot be bought-off and will stand resolutely for conservative values and President Trump. A vote for Dan Severson ensures your voice will be heard in Congress. Dan is a proven 10th Amendment conservative with Christian morals and experience being a strong leader for our country.
